He graduated first in his class from the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences at Universidad Austral de Chile. In 2021 he founded his practice, now Vera Gutiérrez Abogados, through which he litigates criminal cases and advises companies and organisations on compliance.

He is completing a Master's in Economic Criminal Law at Universidad San Sebastián and holds a Corporate Compliance Certification from the Chilean Ethics and Compliance Association (ACEC) and Universidad Diego Portales. His experience as a crime prevention officer allows him to design programs from real operations: risk matrices, whistleblowing channels, conflict-of-interest procedures and third-party due diligence.

His research focuses on the criminal liability of non-profit legal entities following Chile's Economic Crimes Law.
